Scenario guides

Where the industry playbooks start from “who you are”, scenario guides start from “what you need to do”. They are short, outcome-focused quick starts for the governance jobs that come up again and again, whatever your industry.

Each guide names the goal, the outcome you will produce, and a numbered path through the real Gamut modules to get there.

Before starting, name the system, owner, decision maker, assessment period and intended outcome. During the work, preserve the sources used, unknowns, reviewer decisions and limitations. Finish only when the following are clear:

  • the system and use-case boundary;
  • applicable routes and unresolved screening;
  • evidence and test coverage;
  • open findings, risks and remediation;
  • the human conclusion and authority for it;
  • the events that will trigger reassessment.

Scenario outputs are point-in-time governance records. They do not replace legal advice, certification decisions or an organisation’s own risk acceptance.

ScenarioThe job
Govern a GenAI chatbotBring a customer- or staff-facing assistant under governance.
EU AI Act readinessClassify and evidence a system against the EU AI Act.
Shadow-AI discovery sprintFind unregistered AI and bring it under governance.
Vendor AI due diligenceAssess a third-party AI tool before and during use.
Board assurance packProduce a board-ready view of AI governance posture.
Govern an agentic workflowPut an action-taking agent under runtime control.
ISO 42001 certification readinessPrepare the AI management system for certification.

The two are complementary. Pick the industry playbook that matches your sector for the framework routing and drivers that apply to you, then use a scenario guide for the specific job in front of you. Both run the same governance lifecycle; they are just two ways into it.
